A Letter To Jace

If you get anything from this experience, I pray it is strength.

A Letter To Jace

Dear Tilda,

I can't believe you are going to be six in April. It seems like only yesterday your mommy was texting me saying she was about to have you. I remember going to the hospital after school and holding you in my arms once you made your grand appearance. You was so tiny, and now your growing so big so quickly into a little soccer all-star. I am very blessed to have you in my life and to call myself your aunt. You are such a sweet little boy, and I could not be more proud of you.

I know your school experience has not been one of your favorite things. However, I am so proud of how you handle the bad and scary stuff that you've had to face so far. It is not always easy standing up to the other kid picking on you and being mean, but I am so proud of you for doing just that. If this experience teaches you anything later in life, I hope it teaches you how not to treat others. I hope that you look back at the awful things that was said and done to you by your bullies, and remember not to do them to other people. But most importantly, I hope this experience gives you strength to overcome other scary stuff. I hope you use this experience to set an example for your little sister on how to handle a bully, should she ever have one.

I know you are little now, but I pray that you rise from this obstacle, like the sweet little boy you are, and never forget how much you are loved. Not just by me, but by your entire family. You have a whole village behind you that loves you dearly, rather you realize it yet or not. I love you so much Tilda, and I can not wait to see the young man you become in the future. However, please feel free to take your time getting to that point, we are in no big rush for you to grow up.

Love Always,

Aunt Wee

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
