Dear Hate,
I hate how you divide our world. I hate how you demoralize people due to their beliefs, values religion or simply just what part of the world they are from. I hate how you emotionally and physically harm those who have a different sexuality. I hate how you create enemies just because others may not agree with the bounds you wish to control. I hate how you wound and kill those who get in your way.
I hate how you divide my country. I hate how you create chaos because of political views, skin color, religion or sexuality. I hate how you judge people based off of their income or illiteracy. I hate how you bring riots and destruction to cities where children and families live. I hate how you try to teach the younger generations that hate wins wars.
I hate how you intimidate my city. I hate how you threaten schools and facilities with bombs and demolition. I hate how you bring down kids with disabilities or those who just may be a little different. I hate how you bully people to the point where they no longer wish to live. I hate how you install fear inside of every child, adult and senior.
I hate how you try to wreck the innocent lives of this world, my country and my city. But aside from all these things I hate about hate, I still have found some things that I love.
I love how hate has brought awareness to our world. I love how it creates foundations and organizations to save those who are forced to live through harmful conditions. I love how despite the danger inside Syria, we have reached over 1.1 million people, including over 570,000 children, with food baskets, education, health services, clean water, clothes and support for traumatized children. I love how millions of people all across the world are hosting hundreds and hundreds of LGBT events to support one another, regardless of their sexuality. I love how even through utter despair and tragedy, the world still comes together to have memorials and mourn heroes who have lost their lives.
I love how hate has taught my country to stand up for what they believe in and to use their freedoms to express their concerns. I love how hate has broken my country down, but is building it to be stronger than it’s ever been. I love how hate shows that we have diversity and that we can work together to grow and accept it. I love how hate is failing and shows the children of my country that you can solve more problems with love and compromise than hate and intransigence.
I love how hate has taught my city that if we all come together we are bigger than hate. I love how hate has brought awareness to bullying and created campaigns to show that everyone is their own type of beautiful. I love how hate has allowed people love and encourage each other more. I love how hate has made me appreciate each day that I am given. I love how hate has shown that we should not be fearful because there are far more good people in the world than there are bad.
So hate, you can try to bring us down and you can try to win this war, but let’s not forget that love always wins.
With Love,
Love
