I open my eyes as I lay on my back underneath my translucent canopy with my rose gold lights hanging above. I stretch my hands above my head and breath out into the fresh morning seeping through my window. Throwing my covers off my body, I leap out of bed and head to the living room.

*Remote remote remote*, I thought to myself, searching around the room. “AHA!”

I grab the black, button colored remote and let myself trust fall into the couch. Ahhh, yes Grey’s Anatomy. I always thought this show was so overrated. It was all I would hear anybody talk about and here I was, addicted thanks to my sister. Who would’ve known?

I sit and watch the chemistry between Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd. The love that was fought for and that was just so noticeable to the human eye. Almost tangible to say the most. Yes, I know. That love came out of a cheating, marriage. I know I know. But you want to know the true beauty? The fact that two people in love found each other when people wait forever to find someone they're meant to be with for the rest of their life, yet some of them never do.

My second favorite part about Grey’s Anatomy, is the friendship between Dr. Sloan and Dr. Torres. They sleep together yes, don’t give me the lecture on the “how could you think a ‘friends with benefits’ friendship is amazing?” Well, it’s not that. It’s the fact that although Torres was questioning her sexuality, the one guy in the whole hospital who has the reputation of a man whore douchebag, has this longing to help her through it.

My third and most heart thrilling part of the whole show, is that no matter how many people they may lose to an illness or failing surgery, they still fight to save lives. Yes, I know this is a show, but my point is the fact that there are people like that in this world who do the same. For example, when Grey does research to try and save those who have brain tumors using a virus (I don’t know scientific terms), Grey and Shepherd lose 13 patients during their clinical trial before they finally find a procedure that works. THAT effort and dedication put into finding a solution to save the lives of those who have to live with the desolation of a tumor is life changing. There are many incidences where doctors will turn down a patient who requests a surgery for the removal of a tumor they have, but the fact that there are people like Grey and Shepherd in this world who insist on trying to find a cure are pure angels.

This show may be just a show, but it is a glimpse of the world we live in. The fight to be an equal, the fight to be the person we want to be, the fight to love who we want to love, and the fight to fight for what we believe in. Grey’s Anatomy may be just a show, but it’s a show with a theme: Never stop fighting for what you feel.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
