Dear Little Man,
When I got the call saying your mom was pregnant with you, I was in shock. I didn't know what to think, other than that when you were born I knew one thing for sure: I was going to love the hell out of you. I was often told that becoming an aunt for the first time was going to be a life changing moment, and I honestly didn't think that was true. Until you were born.
Flash forward 9 months, and you were born. I got the text and a picture of you. A 9-pound, 7-ounce baby boy born on January 9th. At first you were a sick baby, which scared your family to death. Thankful, you were a strong little man at that. You became a healthy infant, one I was so proud of. A few days later I called your father, my brother and got the best news I could ever receive. I was blessed to be your godmother. Oh boy did I cry. I cried for at least 20 minutes (probably a lot more then that) because I was beaming with joy. Unfortunately I didn't have the pleasure of meeting you until 5 months later. Damn your parents for living 24 hours away from me!
But when I did meet you, I fell in love. I suddenly became a protector of you, and I promised a few things for you.
I will love and cherish you, forever. I will make sure that your parents treat you like the little prince you are, (don't worry, you have pretty awesome parents so I don't have to try too hard.) I will send you presents every chance I get, and I will try to see you often. This part will be the hardest for me, because I live so far, I will mostly see you through FaceTime but when ever I can, I will fly, drive or ride a train to see your little face.
I also want you to know a few things, Lil' Man. Your parents love you very much. Neither of them had a perfect life growing up, so they both have promised each other and you that they will do everything they can to give you everything you need. It might be hard because your daddy works a lot, and your mommy is working so hard to get a degree so she can give you everything, but never forget the love they have for you.
Also, as you grow up there are crazy things that will happen, and you might feel that you cannot change a lot of things. I want you to remember that no matter what, you can change the world. You can make big things happen, and change a lot of lives, you definitely changed your families lives, in the biggest most positive way possible.
You are the most precious little baby in the world. You will ripple the world and be a great man when you grow up. I cannot wait for the milestones in your life, the memories we will make, and the love I will give you.
