An Open Letter to Facebook

A simple Thank You is not enough.

An Open Letter to Facebook

Dear Facebook,

Thank you so much! There are so many things I am thankful for when thinking about Facebook. Where do I even begin?

Thank you allowing me to keep in contact with friends I have made in different stages in my life. I really appreciate that. I love being able to see friends and distant relatives lives being shared in a common place. It fills my heart with pure joy to see individual’s stories being told.

Thank you for allowing me to look back on my precious memories. I love posting pictures on Facebook, not only to keep everyone updated on what I am doing but also to have to look back on. Every day when my memories notification pops up in my phone I get excited! I either feel one of the following emotions: “Aw, I remember that day. Such sweet times” or “Oh my gosh why did I put that on Facebook!?”

Thank you for being a place of learning and communication. I am in so many group Facebook pages, for different organizations and events it is crazy! It is so easy to pass word around, sell something, see news announcements or share craft ideas.

Sometimes Facebook is used in a bad way, such as cyberbullying. It hurts my heart when a story goes viral about cyberbullying. Those people are missing the point of what Facebook can really offer.

And let’s be honest- Thank you for allowing me (you, us, we, etc.) to go and creep or Facebook stalk people we just met.

Facebook, I am so grateful for you. Thank you for providing me with opportunities to stay in touch with the people I love. Thank you for allowing me a way to watch my friends children grow up. Thank you for providing a way to still be a part of loved ones lives.

“Thank you” simple does not do justice for the gratitude I feel in my heart.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.
