Letter to “Everyone with Low Self-Esteem and Suicide Thoughts”

Right now, I know you are not thinking positive anymore. Right now, I know you are scanning the internet to seek for something “you don’t even know what it is”. Right now, I know you are listening to “melancholic sounds”. Right now, I can see your heart is broken to death by the closer friend who used to share your life, bring you joys, feel your pains, wipe your tears, and calm your sorrows. Right now, I can feel you are finding yourself in the middle of nowhere, in middle of an unending desert, in depth of an immense ocean with no ship of salvation around. Right now, I can see you lay down somewhere around, spending the last dimes from your bank account in this packet of cigarettes on your hands, jobless, and alone. Right now, I can feel your heart beating in an unusual way.

Right now… also, is the best time of your life, if you are able to be reading this. I want to tell you “stop being so mean to yourself, for whatever you are going through right now, know that someone is ready to share your pain, to help you surmount your sorrows, to help you resuscitate the giant and the hero inside you. Someone is ready to help you redefine your way up. Someone is ready… I can tell you someone is ready, because I trust in Him.

Because I trust in Him, I can tell you there exists no man who ever lived without highs and lows in their journeys. Human is by nature weak, but the brain we possess is by nature strong. Regardless of the path you chose or the destiny that chose you on yesterday which led you where you find yourself now, right now there is always a last chance to start over, and break every chains that keeps you from moving forward.

Right now is not the moment to be freaked out for who you are. Right now is the moment to feel proud of what you have experienced, and to be grateful to life for choosing you as a tool of heroism. The more you have surmounted, the more you should feel inspired. You should feel inspired to share your stories, and touch the heart of someone who has no clue on what it means to be marginalized, to be poor, to be feel helpless, to be hungry, to live desperate, to be alone, or to have nothing. Right now is the moment to stop reading these lines, and start writing about “what hurts you inside” on top of your “Facebook timeline, twitter page etc.” Right now is the moment that good Samaritans of my type are looking forward to shaking your hands, and bring a new color on your life... simply tell us about it.

Right now is not the moment for you to turn on lights into your dark life. Right now is the time to get over these suicide thoughts that make you feel or look miserable. Turn the light of life on by calling the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 to make yourself heard, understood, and revivified. Right now is the moment for you to go beyond the minimal, and the nihilism to be hopeful, happy and inspired. Start living happy by opening a new page of your life-book that includes Him, me and you. Whoever trust in Him will find joy, inspiration, resistance, and happiness forever.

Wake up, and look back in a mirror. If you don’t have one, find a clear water fountain, and start staring at it. Whoever you are seeing in front of you is wonderful, worth living, loved by a handful, and blessed by Him. Then open your eyes, look up the cross, and contemplate it for a while. Wipe out your tears, get over the past, listen to the voice of your soul, find yourself a pencil and piece of paper if you have no internet, and write down what hurts you. Shred it, and say your inspirational prayer that will finish by repeating “I am better than this”, seven times louder. Whoever you are, wherever you find yourself now, know that “You Are Loved, and Able of Anything". Wake Up!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
