A Letter To My Dog I Call My Best Friend

You're more than just a pet, you're my kid.

A Letter To My Dog I Call My Best Friend
Lacey Sullivan

Dear Coop,

While I write this short letter to you, I'm laughing as I listen to you snore on the floor next to me. I think my favorite thing is when you're asleep and the tip of your tongue sticks out of your mouth. I have many pictures and videos of it, don't worry. I'm not sure where I am planning for this letter to go, but I'm going to wing it because I want to share my thoughts about you and our relationship with the world.

You are about a month away from being two-years-old, which means we are also nearing the two-year mark of you being my best friend and companion. Two years have flown by, but some of my greatest memories and deepest laughs have come from you and your shenanigans. I sleep better at night with you by my feet or even pushing me off of my own pillow, and some days you are the main reason I rise out of bed. It's crazy to me that an animal can have such a large impact on someone's life and mental state, but you amaze me more and more every day.

I know I talk to you a lot and I'm sure much of it you don't comprehend, but you make for a pretty great listener. You probably don't know it, but many times you've given me advice without ever saying a word. You've been with me while I have experienced loss, excitement, exciting accomplishments, and even some tears when the world has piled on a little too much. Just seeing your sweet face when I walk through the door after a tough test or a long day in classes can immediately make my day 10 times better.

I have never known a love and bond like the one I share with you. It's a bond different from those shared with family members and the best of friends. From car rides back and forth to work and home, to laying in bed watching Law and Order: SVU, you are always right by my side. My friends and family (and even strangers), admire the way you listen and how well-behaved you are in even the most chaotic environments. We all laugh when you won't leave the apartment to go outside with anyone but me, but in reality, I love that you love me so much.

People I know have had dogs their entire lives, but no one has ever seen or had a dog love them in the way that you love me. I am so grateful that the universe picked me to be your human. Through the best of days and the worst, I always have you to come home to. I know at times it seems like I'm too busy for a walk or to throw the ball, but I hope I make up for it on the days when school isn't piling on too much.

I love you more than you will ever understand little nug!

xoxo,

Your Human

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

In the 12 years since it went off the air, "Friends" continues to be adored by millions. 11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
