The dictionary defines "feisty" as a person who is relatively small but very lively, determined and courageous. This was an accurate depiction of the girl who lived just two doors down from me in the dorms. She was about 4-foot-2 with an attitude, yet the sweetest and most caring girl I have ever met.
However, there was a day when the text bubbles popped up and disappeared again. A door swung open and the pitter patter of her little feet flooded the hallway followed by a soft knock at my door. No words were needed that day as I stood there looking at her. She was filled with a pain that would keep you up until the early hours of the morning. A pain where no matter how hungry you were every bit of food would make you sick. A pain where every memory flashing back would break you down into tears. A pain that only those who have felt this could understand.
Here we are several months later and the pain has come and gone as it pleases, but on June 21, her heart was shattered into a million pieces. There will come a day when they will ask him about you and he will find himself thinking back on all of your memories, and I hope he aches in regret as the truth hits him like a bullet and he finds himself replying: “She loved me more than anyone else in the entire world and I destroyed her.” But as for now, remember that if life can remove someone you never dreamed of losing, it can replace them with someone you never dreamed of having.
I am not going to tell you to get over it. I am going to help you get through it.
