Dear Human Being,

As of right now, I either know who you are or have no idea at all. But regardless, I want you to know a few things. Yes, you may be struggling but you are not alone. If I can't emphasize that enough then what would be the point of this letter?

As I say this now, I know that it will be a tough battle to win but you will. Life sometimes feels like you've been punched in the stomach or numb to everything; feeling close to defeat. To those who see you, may see the smile that you wear or the earrings that sparkle on your ears but little does everyone know the pressure you face to keep that appearance up as if nothing is wrong. And I know, it's a tough routine just to get ready for the day. To those who see you, may see how hard you work in the gym to be physically strong but little does everyone know how strong you are on the outside doesn't reflect on what's inside. And I know, it's tough knowing that coaches have commented on how physically strong you are but don't even know it's only on the surface. To those who see you, may see the outgoing and social person that you are but little does everyone know that you have days of complete isolation and disconnection from the outside world. And I know, you hate being by yourself and still feel alone even when you know you're not. To those who see you, may think that you're brave or courageous to be open about the struggles you face but little do they know that you create a mask from the haunting feelings and hide in the shadows afraid to admit the struggles.

But as I try to write this letter, I know that I should try to keep this as short as possible. Know that you don't owe your depression anything. Know that your depression won't own you. Know that your depression will become something of the past the more you work on yourself and learn to love yourself. If you're reading this and I know you, know that you're not alone. If you're reading this and I don't know you, know that you're not alone. Everyone has struggles that they face and you're no exception and neither am I. Without further-a-do I'd like to end this letter with one thing:

You are strong and courageous, trust in yourself and love yourself; your struggles will diminish.

Sincerely,

Another Human Being.
