A Letter To My People In Heaven

To my people in heaven,

Not a day goes by that I do not think of you. Not a day goes by that I do not feel your presence in my life in some way. I felt like you missed some of the biggest moments of my life, but I know you were watching from above.

Many of my choices have been made because of your influence on me. The way you lived your lives inspires mine. The values you instilled in me are still important to me to this day. The memories I made with you are still present and clear in my mind.

You’ve missed a lot of things here on earth. You missed the surprise of my new brother five years ago. You missed seeing me start driving and getting a car. You missed seeing me graduate high school and going to the college of my dreams. But, I know you were watching and I know you were proud. And, I know you had to have hand-picked that sweet rambunctious little boy.

I know these won’t be the only things you miss in my lifetime. But I know you’ll always be cheering me and my brothers on from heaven.

I learned many valuable lessons from you. I remember the things you taught me. There are also many times when I still pick up the phone to call you for something I don’t know the answer to. You were the smartest person I knew.

You left a lasting impact on this earth. Many people immediately light up at the mention of your name. You left a legacy that makes me proud to be related to you.

It’s been hard without you here. You’ve taught me how to cope with your loss. I know I’ll see you again, but until that day comes, I’ll always miss you. I’ll always love you, and you’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

Love,

Your Person on Earth

P.S. You did a good job picking out that little boy.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement.
