An Open Letter To My Nephew

Before you I had always rolled my eyes when people made comments about how "grown up." To be honest, I still do from time to time; but now I understand the feeling they are getting when they see kids they watched grow up, become young adults.

You are only 2 now, but I cannot picture what my life was like before you. I have loved every opportunity I have had to watch you grow, create, and learn new things. There is nothing more amazing to me than seeing the expression on your face when you have discovered something new.

The process has been bittersweet as I have been away at school and I know that we may not see each other as much if I move after graduation. However, it makes it easier knowing that there's always technology on our side.

I want you to know that I will be always to be here for you. I can't wait to take you to the movies, ride rollercoasters, and support you at sporting events, music shows, or whatever is you decide to do.

I love you immensely.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here.
