A Letter To My Older Friends
McKenna Broadus

Thank you for the endless talks, life lessons, and much-needed wine nights.

You have no idea how much I needed it when you let me crash on your couches and listened to me cry when I really needed it. I never want to think about the day you're going to graduate and leave me.

Thank you for letting me do my laundry at your apartment when my dorm one burned down and for driving me to target when I didn't have a car.

I've learned so much from all of you, things that I would've learned eventually, but you helped them come just a little faster.

Thank you for reminding me that boys are stupid and that I deserve so much better than a 2 a.m. "wyd?" text from that frat boy who probably mass-texted that. Thank you for being there for me when no one else was and reminding me that true sisterhood does really exist.

Thank you for being supportive of me and telling me that everything would get better when I told you I wanted to leave and not come back.

Thank you for letting me crash at your apartments and letting me have a place to just hang out when my dorm was a little too loud for my liking. Thank you for staying up with me to do homework and study.

Thank you for reminding me that I will find more friends who don't want to go out every night and would rather just hang out in our PJs and watch movies.

Thank you for calling me at 2 a.m. to come pick you up when you've had too much to drink even though you have your keys and your car is parked close by. I would much rather drive all the way downtown to come get you then get a text that you just got in a wreck or something worse.

Thank you for being my support system when I needed you the most. I love you for that.
