Dear me,

You, my future self, is my inspiration. I know that you are one fabulous person, both inside the courtroom and in your home. But as of now, at age 20, I am overworked, underpaid and stressed to the max. The only thing keeping me from going insane from all the stress is thinking about how grand my future might be. Because of right now, I am working my butt off to shape the future me into an amazing one.

So, all in all, this is a letter full of hope, all of my hopes for myself and my future.

So, Courtney,

I hope all is well with you.

I hope you are healthy and still capable of anything you set your mind too.

I hope you are strong willed and not strong hearted.

I hope over the years you have learned to forgive. Not only forgive others but also how to forgive yourself.

I hope you are still fueled by passion.

I hope you get to come home each night and cuddle with the love of your life and your pet piglet named porkchop.

I hope you are genuinely happy.

I hope that all the stress and all the work I am putting in now really does end up paying off for you.

I hope you achieve all of your goals.

And if you do happen to fail I hope you learn from your failures, I hope you learn to be proud of them. Learn to flaunt them. But under NO circumstances, please do not wallow in your failures.

I hope you learn to love yourself.

I hope you get to travel as much as you like because I know being diverse is important to you.

I hope you have become more knowledgeable on all the subjects that matter to you.... and even some subjects that don't.

I hope you are taking care of yourself. I hope you are getting manis and pedis and massages regularly. And for goodness sake, wear your retainer. You paid a lot of money for those teeth. Get your hair done regularly because I know how you always feel brand new after a new hairdo.

I hope you are surrounding yourself with people that share the same goals as you do, because as you know all too well, people who don't believe in your abilities drain you completely.

I know I have high hopes, but let's be honest I've always had high hopes. Well anyway, I hope all is well up there in the future. I hope you are getting along with the robots and meeting new friends from Mars. Just remember that as long as you make a life that you are proud of and are happy in, that's all that really matters. And don't ever forget that while work is important please make time to do the things you enjoy.

With love,

Me.

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
