We're in the final stretch.
For some students, this will be the last few weeks they spend in school. Some might graduate high school and go on to other avenues of life, some are graduating college and preparing for the rest of their lives. For many of us, we're going to be getting ready to do it all over again in the fall.
So, this is a letter of encouragement to students during these last few weeks of school. It's almost over, and all the hard work you've done this semester is going to pay off. All those hours writing papers and solving equations will disappear for a few months, and you will come away knowing so much more than you did at the beginning of the year.
This is the time when teachers and professors really crack down on the homework, projects and tests. This is where things get tough because it seems like so much is due at once. It seems like everyone is trying to put immense pressure on you and trying to make you crack under it. It's a difficult feeling to get through, and it takes a lot to get through the school year.
To the students who have been struggling to find the motivation to do homework and study and go to school every day, you have my respect. You've all worked so hard, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I'm proud of you for making it this far, putting in hours of work and trying your best. Never forget that your best is all you can give.
Especially during these last few weeks, and for the years to come, don't over-exert yourself. You need to take time to rest, drink some water, even to just breathe. I won't say one bad grade isn't the end of the world because for some, it could mean so much. But I will say your health, physically and mentally, is more important than any grade. Work hard and stick with it, but take care of yourself, as well. Stay hydrated, get plenty of sleep, go see your friends. Don't stare at a book or a screen for hours on end. Remember, it's OK to breathe.
Stay strong because it's almost over. The time to relax and take a day off will soon be upon us. Just look forward to what's to come, and hang in there just a little bit longer. School, work, relationships – none of these are easy, but they're usually worth it. Keep your head straight and your mind and body strong and continue to work hard. But, remember, it's also good to make sure you're not overdoing it, either.
