A Letter to my New Sisters

As you probably know, it is time to start school again. The summer is officially over. We slip out of summer mode and into school mode. The one unique about this upcoming school year: living in a house with 100 other girls that I call my sorority sisters. Hey guys, this one's for you:

Dear sisters/housemates,

I would like to start by saying that I am more excited to live with you than anything. I am so excited to have you all in my life and most importantly, I am extremely excited to share the next couple of years with you.

Thank you for already being there for me. From helping me move in to coming to check on me after I finished organizing my life, you never fail to just be there when I may need it. I want to thank you for being a never-ending support system because you want to be, not because you have to be. Thank you for never judging me and continuing not to. Thank you for making me feel at home and for making me feel like I belong.

I want to also thank you ahead of time for all that you will do for me. The boy drama to come, the binge-eating and the rough nights at the frats. I know you'll be there through all of that plus some. Thank you ahead of time for wiping my tears, easing my stress, going out with me (even when you don't want to) and never judging me. I am endlessly appreciative.

I hope that you know that I will always be here for you, and not because I have to be. I'm less than just a phone call away, I'm literally down the hall. I will always be available to vent, eat cheese sticks or bing-watch 80's movies. I hope that you realize that I am not just someone you live with and not just a "sister", but I am also a best friend. I will always be someone you can count on, long after we graduate and live in different places.

Most of all, above all of the thank you's, I would like to show my appreciation for the memories we're about to make. You'll all be there for my greatest feats and greatest downfalls. You'll stand up in my future wedding. You're just going to be there, and for that I am forever grateful.

To my current sisters and all of my sisters to come, it's about to be the best couple of years of our lives, cheers!

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
