Dear 12-year-old me,
You were recently diagnosed with clinical depression. As you learn to accept this new chapter of your life, be kind to yourself over anything.
Loved ones die. Friends leave. You get your heart broken a few times. But, you keep moving forward despite it all.
I'm going to tell you some things that will hurt you to your core-- you will drag a blade across your skin hundreds of times. You will lose sight of life. You will think you're ready to give up, at least once a day. You will attempt suicide. You will make it out of the darkness.
You are a beautiful soul, but it will take you years to realize that. Accept your flaws, learn from your mistakes, and keep going. Life will kick you in the teeth countless times, but you can't let it get to you. Never let it get to you.
