Dear Mom,
Just so you know, you were right about MOST things. I know when I was younger I got upset with you because you wouldn’t let me stay out past midnight, took away my phone, and refused to let me get my belly button pierced, but I’m writing this to say thank you. Thank you for everything you taught me, and for raising me to be the (still developing) person I am today. Something I didn’t realize until I got to college is how fortunate I was to grow up with a mom like you. You were cared about the little things going on in my life, and I appreciate that you never once told me I talked too much (because I totally did). You listened to me go on and on about my stupid little problems and always gave me good advice. You were always the person I knew I could run to with an issue, and I could trust you with anything. You told me to let myself shine, even if people were going to try to drag me down. I remember very clearly the time you told me, “When you try to make your mark on the world, you’re always going to attract erasers.” I was always different, but you told me to be myself and follow my dreams no matter what anyone else thought about it. You taught me to be bold and unashamed of my faith, and for that I am forever grateful. You’re the best, and I love you.
Love,
Your Daughter
