A Letter To My Long Distance Best Friend(s)

Dear Best Friend(s),

You know who you are. I want to start this off by saying thank you. Thank you for always being there for me even though we’re physically miles apart. Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on at 2 a.m., even if it’s over the phone. Thank you for introducing your school friends to me and making me feel like I fit right into your new group of friends. Thank you for texting me a picture of your lunch and letting me know about the awkward moment that you had in class earlier this morning. Thank you for telling me about your day and always keeping me in the loop.

It’s hard to be apart for such long periods of time. Sometimes we only see each other as much as three times a year, but I know that I can always turn to you despite the fact that we rarely see each other in person anymore.

I know that sometimes I have a hard time with staying in touch and I’m sorry for that. I don’t mean to not reach out to you, but you of all people know how life can be sometimes. Between maintaining a school, a job, and a social life, it’s really easy to let the craziness of it all get in the way of our friendship. I know it shouldn’t, and I’m sorry that it does, but I also know that you won’t think twice about answering when I text you or call you after days, weeks, or maybe even months of not talking.

I think that what makes you such a great friend to me is our ability to pick up right where we left off without anything being awkward. We never have to go back to the weird small talk phase. It’s so easy to just pick up right where we left off with you. I never question our friendship because I know that no matter what, you will always be there even if we go years without talking (which I will not let happen, by the way.) You were the one by my side through all of the crazy phases of growing up. You saw me in my most awkward phases and you still stuck by my side. We made it through high school drama and different friend groups, and this whole “long distance best friend” thing is just another hurdle that we will make it through.

True friends are the people that you can go forever without talking to and nothing changes when you finally do. They are the people that have seen you at your best and at your worst and they still choose to be your friend. They are the people that support you through everything, even if they are miles away. They are the people who make you laugh when all you want to do is bawl your eyes out. They are the people that support your current relationships and they are the first people to come to your defense when something goes wrong in that relationship.

I’m lucky to have you as a true friend. Even though we went our separate ways after high school, I know that you’ll always be down for a diner run when you’re home. I’m

grateful for our friendship and I know that it will last through everything; even college.

Love,

Your long distance best friend

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

Her sister was a member, her mom was a member, all of her aunts were members, and her grandma was a member. She has been waiting her whole life to wear these letters and cried hysterically on bid day. Although she can act entitled at times, you can bet she is one of the most enthusiastic sisters.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
