An Open Letter To My Little Brother

Having a little brother is the greatest gift.

An Open Letter To My Little Brother
Anne Kernkamp

Dear Little Bro,

Thank you for always being brutally honest when I ask you about anything. Whether it's my hair, the guy I am dating or any of my academic decisions, you always tell me like it is. No censor. I may not be the biggest fan of it at the time, but I always appreciate it in the long run.

Thank you for giving me the simplest, but most helpful advice whenever I need it. Somehow you always find a way to make any problem seem so small and the solution seem so easy.

When it comes time for you to bring a girl who you're serious about home to meet the family, I will put aside my belief that no one is good enough for you. I will love any girl that you love and who loves you in return.

Thank you for always standing next to me through any family drama. I am forever grateful for that.

I'm not the biggest sports fan, but I feel confident enough about current events going on in the sporting world, thanks to you. Whether you're yelling at the TV when watching a football game or trying to explain to me the rules of lacrosse, I appreciate it.

I know that I can tell you anything, and even if you do judge me, it won't change your perception of me as a person. You know me better than anyone, and vice versa.

Thank you for sharing many of the same interests as me so our discussions are never boring.

I love how you can always make me laugh at your ludicrous thoughts because I know you aren't afraid of what I think. That's something I will never take for granted.

All in all, thank you for being you.

All The Love In The World,
Your Big Sis.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
