I miss you.

A Letter to My Hometown Friends

I miss you. I wish I could pack you up with all my belongings and take you to college. I wish you were closer, and I wish we could go get pizzookies every week, but also thank you. Thank you for always being there when I come home for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Thank you for not forgetting about me. Thank you for always being my friend no matter what.

It's nice to know that you have people to count on when you go home, but when I go home, I know that I have people who welcome me back like I never left. We could have not talked for weeks, maybe even months, but that never matters. We have the most fun when we are catching up and telling each other about our lives, what we've all missed.

It could be something as simple as going to Harbor House and ordering shakes with cheese fries, or going to the beach late at night and walking along the pier; these moments are the ones that we will cherish forever. Who knew that these moments would become so few and far between? I sure never expected to only be home 3-4 times a year, missing out on the lives of my family and friends. While I do miss home, I'm so thankful that you know that leaving home to go to school was the best possible thing for me and for accepting that fact. I love the fact that we have all gone our separate ways, but somehow always manage to come back to each other.

I think that sometimes people leave home to go to school and when they come back to visit, things have changed, people have changed, and home is just not the same. Everyone went to college and comes back with new friends, new significant others, and new outlooks, but why does that mean they can't remain friends? I'm so glad that we've never let our changes change who we are at the core and alter our friendships. While I agree that we've all changed since high school, I know that we've all grown, and we've done that together not separate. We've grown with each other and with the help of each other; we've had each other's backs each step of the way. We've trusted each other with secrets, given and asked for advice, and we knew that there was never judgement from anyone. So, yes we've changed, but we've remained friends, not despite the changes, but because of them; they brought us closer.

I'm so thankful that even though I'm away at college, I'll always know that I have my friends waiting for me at home. I have had the best experience while away at college. I have made amazing friends, gained a sisterhood, and made memories for a lifetime, but that doesn't mean that I forgot about you guys, it just means I have more stories to tell you.

Love you!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
