A Letter To My Growing Sorority Family

Family really is forever.

A Letter To My Growing Sorority Family

Dear Sorority Family (Basically Eat Family),

I do not think there are enough words in this world to describe what you mean to me, but I'm going to try and do it anyways. Through all of the ups and downs that college throws my way, you are always my number one cheerleaders. Sometimes, I feel that we can take these things for granted and get caught up in the moment. So, I wanted to take some time out of my crazy life to tell you what you have done for me.

To my awesome Big: Thank you for being the old sister I have never had. It is very hard knowing that I will not have you around next year to dance on bar tables with or eat terrible food from the food court at the mall. We've had our ups and downs but I think the best advice I have gotten in this college experience thus far has come from you. You probably the person I admire most (yes, even more than Beyoncé) and I strive to be half the person you are. My hope is that I can be that kind of positive role model for my Littles and that they love me as much as I love you.

To my two perfect Littles: You guys rock. I feel so honored to be your mentor, best friend, sister, crying buddy, going out partner, etc. I think I have learned so much about myself by having the both of you in my life. It was never my intentions to take twins, but once I met you both, I knew I could not live without you in my life. Thank you for all the love you give me and always being there to dance it out on an elevated surface, bring me coffee when I am having a crappy day or collectively hating the boys that screw us over together. You both are going to make amazing Bigs and I cannot wait to see how you make an impact on your Littles' life, but please don't forget about me!

Last but definitely not least, my Grand-Littles: I know we just met, but I love you with all of my heart already because that is what family is all about. You both are beyond blessed with the best Bigs in the world I cannot wait to watch you grow and get your own Littles within the next year. You are joining a very close-knit family who would literally do everything and anything for each other. Whether it is taking you to urgent care when you are convinced your foot is broken or sending you obnoxious cat videos to make you laugh when a boy is being stupid, you will find that in this family. Get ready to be smothered with an ungodly amount of affection.

I know everyone says this, but college would not be the same without you. Thank you for being my home away from home and my forever family. I cannot wait to see where life brings us in the next few years, but no matter the distance, we will always be family.

Love,

Your Favorite Family Member

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
