A Letter To My Graduating Friends

To my friends who are leaving,

To start, I can't believe this year is only a month from over. I can't believe that we're experiencing the last of your "lasts" and that I'll be watching you smile in a cap and gown soon. It seems like just yesterday the year was starting and we were joking about you being old. I blinked and your graduation is here.

I'm so proud of you. I know you've worked so hard to get to where you are. I know that there have been a lot of stressful weeks, a lot of late nights in the library, and a million moments where you had no clue what you were going to do. But, here we are. You made it. You made it and I am so proud.

I am so proud of you, and I know you are going to kill it, no matter what you're doing after this. Whether it be a job or a gap year or something completely random, you are so ready for this. You're going to do incredible things. One day, when you're in the paper for whatever incredible feat you've accomplished, I'll get to say that I knew you way back when.

Finally, though, and most importantly, I want to say thank you. Thank you for everything you've done for me during your time here. Whether it was a late-night ride home or a little extra advice or just spending some time with me, thank you. Thank you for being a part of my experience here. Thank you for letting me be a part of your's. Words can't explain how grateful I am for your friendship.

Sincerely,

Your friend that isn't ready for you to graduate

I thought senioritis in high school was rough until I became a college senior about to go into the real world. I'm supposed to have everything figured out, right? I mean I went through four years of tough classes and serious self-searching (and crying). What I found overall was Senioritis sneaking up on me.

It takes a little while to get used to not seeing your high school best friends every day. Going away to college causes a lot of changes, but one thing that will never change is my love for my high school BFFs, and the texts that I get from them. Here are just 8 of the texts I get from them on the weekly:

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
