Dear Heavenly Father,
Teaching can seem scary. The thought of having the future lives of hundreds of kids in my hands is a thought that doesn’t exactly make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I have known since I was five years old that I wanted to teach. I would stand in my mother’s empty classroom after school every day and play classroom. My family has been teachers for generations, starting from my late great grandmother. My parents have shown me what it’s like to be an extremely successful teacher from the moment I stepped into their classrooms. It’s in my blood.
Here is my prayer to you: Let me be the best teacher I can be for the next generation.
Allow me to know what I need to teach, so I can help students understand the concept better. Allow me to create a safe haven for the students that don’t have the best home life. Let me be the person they can turn to. Allow me to influence the next great thinkers. They will be the change that our world needs in the future. Allow me to share my passion of music with my students, just as my father did before me. Allow me to be patient, even when I want to yell and give up when they don’t get it or they drive me crazy. But above all, allow me to give every child that walks into my classroom the love that they need and deserve; the love that God bestows on us daily.
I long for the day I can walk into my first classroom and make it my own. I can’t help but think of all the teachers before me that got to do the same thing and the joy that must have filled their hearts. I think of all the teachers that influenced me in my life and I am beyond grateful and blessed. I pray that I can affect my students the same way they affected me. Until then, I will wait, study, and pray.
Love always,
A Future Educator
