A Letter To My Future Self

A tribute to a person that I aspire to be or who I will be in the future

A Letter To My Future Self
We Heart it

Usually, I’m not one to harp on the future, but recently, I began to think about where and what kind of person I’ll be. As I’m making these small decisions now I can’t help but to think about how it will affect my future. Hopefully I can look back and read this and be able to say “I made it."

To my future-self:

I know right now as I’m writing this I’m experiencing a whirlwind of emotions and have absolutely no idea what I really want out of life, but I hope at this point as you’re reading this, we’ve at least figured it out. And I believe that whatever you’ve chosen to do makes you both successful and extremely happy. I understand the journey to success will be a long one, and as I’m stressing out about the impending future, I anticipate that you’re sitting reading this thinking about how in the end it was all worth it.

Did you move out after college? Chances are you’re probably still visiting dad because you never really stray far from home. I’m positively sure, that at this point in your life you’re okay with wearing dresses because I know how much of a hassle it is to look like a decent human being at times. Recently, I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos with the beauty gurus wearing the really bright lipsticks; I hope it’s not a trend that I later pick up on. Unless it actually is and you seem to pull it off then kudos to you.

I hope we’re able to get out more and travel and get to experience different cultures and see what the world has to offer. With the world changing so much we have to cherish the time we have with the ones we love.

Speaking of, do you still have the same group of friends? I know we’re all at different points in our lives right now but I hope we all tried to make it work and pushed through the adversities in life, even though I’m pretty confident that these are the groups of friends that push you to do better and inspire you. Unless, you’ve made new ones that better you as a person then that’s okay too. As long as you’re happy.

All in all, I hope that the future is what you make it. I hope you find happiness, love, and friendship. I hope you realize that family is forever and you treasure the moments you have with them. I hope you continue with writing, not just because you have to but because you really love to do it. Actually, whatever hobby you pick up on I pray it gives you joy and you’re doing it because it’s an obligation.

Lastly, I hope you stay true to yourself along with this journey, for it will be a long one and as I’m writing this I have my fingers crossed for what the future holds.

Wishing you the best,

Your present self.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
