I Just have few words to get off my chest.

Dear Class,
You don’t know me yet, and that’s okay! I can’t wait to meet all of you in two years! We are going to get on each other’s nerves, but I think we are all up to the challenge. I just want to tell you a few things, even if you can read yet.

I’m learning how to teach you guys the stuff you need to know so you can all be great people, because I think you will all be the leaders of tomorrow.

We won’t always get along, I’m sure I’ll have to raise my voice at least once or twice, but it’s because I only want what is best for you.

I can’t promise there won’t be any tests, but I can promise you will know why you are taking them.

I also can’t promise that I won’t embarrass you all with lame jokes, but you will always have a place to smile and feel safe.

I won’t judge you, I’m not getting paid enough.

There will be homework (I know I’m terrible) but if you work with me, I’ll try to make it not be the worst thing ever.

I’ve been where you are, it will get better no matter what. I promise that.

You may not like me, that’s okay, I’m a handful sometimes.

I may not like you either, but there will be respect for you while you are in my class.

I can’t tell the future, and I’m going to say this SLOWLY, I don’t know what’s for lunch.

ASK ME TO GO TO THE BATHROOM ONE MORE TIME.

Bear with me, it’s my first year, I’m just as nervous as you guys are.

You know how you think your parents have eyes in the back of their heads? Yeah, I have them too.

Keep me in the loop with what’s cool, I need to stay with what’s “hip”

If I do my math right, the members of Mr. Hogenbirks second grade class of 2020 will be in preschool now. You guys don’t get how excited I am to have every single one of you guys in my class! College is fun, but I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life in the classroom. I can already see your bright and smiling faces looking at me that first day in August 2020!

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
