To My Future Little, Here's to All Of The Adventures That Are Yet To Come

Dear Future Little,

I know you are just about to graduate high school and college seems scary to you. But I don't know where you're coming from or what you look like or how you are going to act when you finally meet me, and that is scary to me. You may have doubts going through recruitment and wonder if you made the right decision but I promise that I have felt the same way as you and that I am here for you and you will have 100+ other sisters to confide in also.

I hope that you can always put your trust in me and tell me all of your problems and come to me for advice, even if it may not be good. I'm not good at the whole consoling thing, but I promise that I can kick some ass for you (especially if it's because of a boy). I will always have your back, I may be small, but I am mighty (so is g-big). I hope you don't have to wonder if you made the right decision, because if you do then I am not doing a good job and being the person I am supposed to be.

Any and all of the time we have together is going to be so much fun, even if it means that we sit at your dorm and watch "High School Musical" or drive to the beach at 2 a.m. and stay there until the sun comes up. Get ready for fun. And I really hope you like old movies because my favorite is "The Shawshank Redemption," and you will watch it with me at some point.

I am a very quiet person, so I hope you are the exact opposite of me, I NEED you to be.

Your Grand Big is the best, you can go to her about anything, too. Also, beg her to come to your initiation, she will probably be traveling the world and doing great things but I love her as much as you will and you won't want her to miss anything.

I have already started a stockpile for you for Big-Little Week, you're going to love every minute of that week as much as I will, you're getting gifts and getting the perfect big and I'm getting the most perfect little and being able to give you gifts. I am going to be broke by the time it is over, but it is completely worth it.

I cannot wait to meet you.

Love,

Your Big

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
