My life recently has become one big LMAO; it seemed as though one thing keeps happening after another. My heart has dealt with death, sickness and heartache, but I choose to not feel sorry for myself. I choose to be happy. I choose to be free. I've come to the realization that crying or being angry isn't going to do anything for me. I have no unkind words to say about anyone and I never have. I think about all the good things in my life and all the people who care about me and how wonderful everything truly is. Why would I live in the world that has so many amazing qualities, and be sad? This all may sound cheesy, but I don't mean it to be. I just need to begin looking at all the positives and realize that no day is just an ordinary day. This is simply a letter from my happy heart to yours.
1. Do things that make you feel good about yourself.
Whether that means wearing your favorite dress, actually brushing your hair for once, or just simply eating better — do what makes you feel content.
2. Go to the gym.
Exercise gives you endorphins and endorphins make you happy. Need I say more?
3. Tell yourself something you like about yourself.
Not appearance-wise, though: find something you like about who you are as a person.
4. Don't be afraid to laugh.
I probably have the loudest, most annoying laugh you will ever hear, but I probably laugh more than anyone you have ever met.
5. Say something you like about someone else.
And something you admire about them.
6. Don't remember the bad stuff, don't dwell on the negatives.
Always remember the good. People were in your life for a reason, so remember the amazing times you had with them.
7. It's OK to still want someone in your life.
I know people will tell you to cut people out of your life like it's the easiest thing in the world. It's not, and it's OK to still want someone in your life as long as they don't hinder you from happiness.
8. Think about all of the little things in the world around us.
Like, this is weird, but have you ever really looked? There are so many beautiful things about life that people miss out on. Think about jellyfish, for example. Do you know how amazing those little guys are? Seriously, wow.
9. Be the person you want to be.
Do the things you want to do. If you want to hang glide (cause I really do if anyone wants to join), do it. Spend your life not just living but experiencing.
10. Be someone who makes other people smile.
Don't scowl at the ground or avoid eye contact with people. Smile at people you see, make people laugh, make people see the good.
11. It's OK if that certain someone still makes your heart race when you see them.
It truly is OK. It's OK to remember the wonderful things about them. Love is a gift and it's amazing you got to have them in your life.
12. Drink lemonade.
IDK this is a personal preference: it makes me feel cute and like the sunshine...but, I mean, you do you.
13. Don't be afraid.
Don't be afraid to open your heart, to trust people, to give second chances. Don't be. Breathe, smile, be kind, and be happy. Plus there are way, way too many puppies in this world to be sad — like, c'mon.
Love, My (and Hopefully Your) Happy Heart
