College. The one thing that every high school senior is so excited about; to leave home, to go off and live without your parents, and to have independence. I remember being that senior a year ago wishing I was a freshman in college already. Now that I am a college freshman, I sure am making memories, but let me tell you, do not wish away your childhood.
Cherish your last year with your parents. You may be thinking that you cannot wait to get away from your parents on your own. Let me tell you though, this is far from the truth. Laundry? Yeah that's all on you now. You have a bad day? Your mom's arms aren't there to go hug. Food? Lol, you will find that out yourself at the cafeteria. Cherish your mother's homemade meals.
Cherish your friends. Try as hard as you can to avoid senior year drama because when you are eight hours away from your best friend from the fourth grade, it's rough. Make memories because soon you will be making new memories with new friends.
Cherish your hometown. Believe me, I know what it's like to want to get out of your hometown. Don't rush it though. Pretty soon, you will be in a different state... in a town you're unfamiliar with. You will miss the local grocery store you worked at or the local restaurant downtown.
Cherish your last year of high school. High school can be a drag, I know. I was so ready to get out of there that I was voted "the worst case senioritis" in my class. But you will miss it. Trust me. You will miss walking down those halls talking to your friends at the lockers. You will miss your favorite teacher and your school guidance counselor. You will also miss the load of work, cause sadly... college gets harder. Don't wish high school away.
Lastly, but not least, trust in God. Whenever you don't know what college to choose, or are stressed out about scholarship applications, bring it to God. God will always be with you, through high school, through college, through everything. Draw near to Him.
