Thank you. I just feel that’s the appropriate way to start this since you risk your life everyday. I'm sorry all I can muster up is a thank you because I am not quite sure what else to say.
I'll start with the obvious every time you go to work, it's unclear if you’re going to make it home that night so I wait up until you get home to make sure you actually made it home. I understand not every call is as dangerous and most are just false alarms, but I am scared for the day that it is more than just that. I am so afraid that one day its not going to be someone asking you for directions, but someone who will hurt you instead. The constant fear as your kid that I am going to one day have officers at my door telling me you got hurt is unreal.
I know that there is a lot of hate going on for cops right now and I worry everyday that you’re going to be an innocent bystander getting caught in the crossfires. At the end of the day I know the last thing you want to do is talk about your day, but I will always ask just incase you decide you want to talk about it to someone. To keep this letter from getting unbearably long I will just end it with another thank you. So thank you for going to work and making it a safer place for us to live, thank you for making sure that we are safe, even if it means you are not as safe sometimes.
