Dearest friend,
You made it, you did it, it's over! You have completed your undergraduate studies and are finally graduating from college. Our age gap absolutely sucks, but you gotta roll with the punches and with our friendship, I am sure this is a lifetime kinda deal, whether you like it or not.
I am going to miss you immensely. So many amazing college memories were made with you right by my side and it's sad to think of my senior year without you there at all times. Studying in silence next to each other in the library during stressful weeks and coffee breaks just won't be the same. Having someone to always print my papers for me when I'm too lazy to go all the way to the library, or someone who will sit with me in the dining hall, even though you already ate will be a great loss for me in the coming years. Listening to your relentless but now irrelevant drama was something I was thrilled by and never minded being your shoulder to cry on, whether it was over a stupid boy or hilarious Chris D'elia comedy special.
I will forever cherish our late nights together, whether it was spent doing coloring books, playing Cards Against Humanity or playing with our hamster Tarzan while the boys try and befriend him.
Don't worry about us, I promise we will be fine. Though we may no longer be on the same campus, or even in the same city, distance will be no test of our friendship. I will always be one phone call, Face-time or text away for any of your needs: ranting, crying, good news, literally anything. If so requested, I will have no problem updating you daily on my senior year shenanigans, so you too can pretend you were there right beside me.
Don't forget that my door is always open if you are feeling like you need to re-live your college years again, my little alumnus. Between Homecoming weekend, Parade Day and Spring Fling, there are so many university traditions that you can still participate in as an alumnus. You may be a little older, but every once in a while, returning back to what you called home for four years of your life isn't such a bad idea. I look forward to reuniting with you on our old stomping ground.
As for your future, this is your chance to conquer the world on your own! I hope all you've learned, mostly the night before each and every exam and paper, helps you to be one step closer to living your dream life.
To my friends with secured jobs and careers directly out of college, I hope you have no fear on your first day and find confidence in your intelligence from our wonderful university. However, keep in mind that at some point you probably will mess up: the idea is to learn from the experience and know more than you did before.
To my friends who still have no idea what they're doing after graduation, that's perfectly normal and okay too. You should live a life you never get tired of, and if a year of traveling the world or living at home again will help you realize the path you're meant to be on, then do it! No matter what happens in your life, I hope you never get discouraged to give your academic and career pursuits a chance.
Finally, congratulations! Despite everything and anything life can throw our way, I'm pretty sure we will be perfectly fine.
Love you always,
The One Who Will Still Be Here
