A Thank You Letter to my Best Friend of 10 years

Well, we made it!!! Ten years ago you walked into my life and it has not been the same since. You came at such a young age that I do not have many memories that don't include you in them. You came at a time that I desperately needed someone like you, so for that I thank you.

You came at the most awkward stage of my life so far…middle school. These were the years of growing into yourself, Bermuda shorts, and every single t-shirt saying “aéropostale”. Thank you for not thinking I was weird and for sticking around.

Our relationship has not always been rainbows and butterflies. We argue like sisters, and sometimes fight like cats and dogs but without it my life would be very dull.

Our good moments way out our bad moments by one in a million. I have never laughed, cried or gossiped with anyone else as much as I do with you. You can turn my crappy days into my happy days with just one word, or one look; it’s astonishing that only you can do that. For that I am very very thankful.

You know when to yell at me and pretend to be my second mom when I am doing something I probably shouldn’t do. Yet, you also know when I need the right amount of cuddles on the days that nothing is going my way. You know my favorite ice cream and are always down for some binge watching of all the Nicholas Spark movies, which I need probably once every 2 weeks. You know when I need what before I do, and for that I am forever grateful.

Ten years is a long time to know somebody, one whole decade, half of our lives have been together. Thanks for being my best friend through the thick and the thin, and for never leaving me wondering where I needed to be in life. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for always giving me a place to stay if need be, a second family, but also thank you for being you and choosing to be there for me the last 10 years, here is to ten more.

- Love, your best friend

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
