A Letter To Freeform As You Crush A Little Bit Of My Holiday Spirit

But I will still be watching Elf on repeat.

A Letter To Freeform As You Crush A Little Bit Of My Holiday Spirit

Honestly, I don’t have a lot to say to you. I’m a little bit angry, but you probably have your reasons. You’ve left a lot of your closest followers for years a little confused, but I guess you are assuming we will get over it.

Well, WE WON’T. (Ok, yeah, I get the world is not ending because of this). It may be more of a personal issue, and rather satirical, but I am a little bit disappointed at your lack of consultation from dedicated viewers like myself.

I’m not feeling that free. I haven’t really looked into why you changed the name but I feel slightly trapped in a glass case of, “did you change your logo?” and, “will you ever bring the OG name back?” The 25 Days of Christmas still remains a wonderful tradition that excites even the oldest of people during the holidays, but it’s an ABC Family tradition!! You keep the classics rolling in and I can hardly wait, so I can’t really be angry with you for that long, but I’m trying to hold a grudge for a little. I’m trying to stand my ground because I keep seeing this: “ABC Family (now Freeform).” Waste of your time if you ask me!!!!! You certainly caused yourself a lot of trouble because now everyone has to write an explanation to avoid real confusion.

I get that I am a little ridiculous and you would probably agree. I’m about ready to start a petition to “Bring Back ABC Family” and I am convinced that I will be getting a lot of signatures so beware!!!!! This ABC Family fan is not backing down anytime soon. I believe you are looking make it known that your network is not totally “family friendly,” but you can play all of your “not family friendly” shows after the families go to bed.

On the real though, I’ll get over it. You still let me watch “The Polar Express” fifteen times before Christmas and for that I am eternally grateful. You even have “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” playing which is not even a Christmas movie but is, in fact, one of my favorites, so maybe you could sense my discontentment in your name change and wanted to alleviate some of my extreme stress. I applaud you for showing “Elf” twelve times in the next 25 days.

Freeform, I am writing to you to express my utter disappointment. Expect a petition to surface soon as I get my s**t together and am able to actually channel my rage into making ABC Family great again. Honestly though, that would be a lot of work and I think I’ll just keep sitting on the couch quoting “Elf” and trying to train my dog to be more like “Santa Paws.” Is it too late to ask Santa to change the network back to ABC Family?

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
