An Open Letter To My Future Self
Anna Florczak

Anna,

I know you better than anyone. I know just how hard you can be on yourself. I know what makes you rise and what makes you fall. Knowing myself, I know you'll have plenty of failures down the road, but it's okay because you can push through any obstacle life throws your way. This is a reminder for you to know that you are strong. But, if you're ever feeling like you've lost meaning to hope, love, your sense of self, or all things good, please keep reading on.

At whatever point in life you intend on reading this letter, I hope you're doing well and I certainly hope you've achieved what you wanted to achieve, or continue to strive down the path to seek out your accomplishments. More than anything, I hope you've found your passion. The passion that wakes you up in the morning, excited to do what you love. From my standpoint, my future looks awfully blurry. My heart and my mind are being pulled into many different directions; I hope that you've found the clarity that I am searching for. I hope the decisions that I've made now haven't significantly made a negative impact on you. I'm only doing the very best I can for the both of us.

I've grown to learn that life is simply far too short. So I hope and I pray you always keep your family close. Never let a day go by where you don't tell them you love them. I hope you are able to give back all they have given you because they have done so much for you. I hope that family always remains an important part of your life, for it is irreplaceable.

Always remember to surround yourself with people that love you for who you are. You are so special and deserve nothing less. I truly hope you stick with the friends that make you endlessly happy and are there for you as you are for them. I hope they inspire you to be the best person you can be. I hope you change their lives and help them when they struggle. Most importantly, I hope you see the light in yourself and in anyone you meet because no one has it easy.

To my future self, I hope you've found happiness within yourself. I hope you like the person you are when you're all alone. I hope you see your worth because it is so vital in finding happiness. Fall in love with taking care of your mind, body, and spirit. You are so loved. In case you've forgotten or lost sight of yourself, I want you to know what makes you so beautiful. You have such a kind heart. You're bold. Your bravery and courage is undeniable. You're brilliant. You're absolutely captivating. Please never forget this.

Thank you for never giving up, and for continuing to move forward. You're going to do great things in this world, and I can't wait to find out what's ahead.

With love,

-me

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
