A Letter To My First-Born Little
Caitlin Drummond

To My First-Born Little,

I knew that we were meant to be from the moment you said you were from South Carolina and that you loved Lilly Pulitzer. You started out as my Rush Crush and ended as my Little and I cannot thank God enough for bringing you into my life. You are an amazing young woman and an great example of what a Southern Belle should be. You make me proud in so many different ways and I am so glad I get to be beside you on your college journey. You’ve become my best friend, future bridesmaid, biggest fan, and you can always find a way to make me happy if I am sad or angry. All of this has happened in such a short time but, it feels like we have been this way forever.

I love the way that you love Delta Zeta and I am so glad to share that love with you. I am so proud of all of your accomplishments and I am so happy that you have been there to share mine with me. Whether we are talking about boys or clothes, I know that you're always going to give me your honest opinion and I cannot thank you enough for that. I will always be your biggest protector when it comes to boys but, I’d like to think that you’ve now found a good one. But, if for some reason he breaks your heart, I’ll be the first one to offer to beat him up. We have seen each other at our worst but, the good times have outweighed the bad and I look forward to all the good times ahead.

You are such a gracious and welcoming person and I am so thankful for that. Even though you were kind of upset that I chose to get another Little, you welcomed her with open arms and love her just as much as I do. I will always consider myself the luckiest Big in the world for having both of you girls as my Littles. You were always so nice to the boy I loved even though you did not like how I was being treated. You loved him because I loved him and you're that way with everyone you care for. You don’t judge me for my sometimes questionable decisions and you support my decisions even if you do not agree with them. You're my shoulder to cry on and I can always count on you to go out to eat with me wherever we are.

You might love Clemson and I might love Carolina but that’s the only difference I see in us. You also enjoy going to the gym and I have to force myself to go but that not as big of a deal as Clemson vs. Carolina. My hope for you is that you seek God in whatever you do and always put him first, I want you to make sure that you always consider your own personal happiness when faced with difficult decisions, and I want you to never change who you are. You are a beautiful person with a personality unlike any one else I have ever met. I am so glad you are who you are and that you're such a huge part of my life.

With lots and lots of love,

Big

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
