A Letter to Disney College Program Applicants

I know you have probably checked your dashboard and your email twenty times or more today. You probably have been binge watching vlogs any free time you have. I know how you feel. The eagerness to know. The anticipation to hear back. You have done everything so far. You have taken the Web Based Interview, You have had your Phone Interview. Now you are just waiting. And waiting. And still waiting. You see more applicants get their acceptance email, and you rush to check your dashboard and it’s still not there, oh the agony. And if you hadn’t had your phone interview, you are probably watching phone interview vlogs on repeat. Trying to make sure everything is perfect! Trust me, I was this person! And some of you are stuck in that awful place of submission, my heart goes to you. You are seeing everyone acceptance or next step post and you are just wondering if you are ever going to get your web interview. For everyone who is in these situations: breathe.

I am in the waiting game too. Yes this is my second program, so I feel more calm about it but at the same time, the anticipation is building internally. I am just as excited and eager as all of you. Just remember to breathe. Binge watch those vlogs, hey they’re awesome! I have a few of my favorites and constantly watch them, and I hope to vlog this time. I even watch my roommate’s vlogs from my last program to relive it. And I check my email and dashboard A LOT in one day. But so often as you constantly check your dashboard or email and binge watch vlogs, and then you see a wave of acceptances and yours is not there, you begin to get discouraged. You say “Hm maybe my interview didn’t go as well as I thought. Maybe I should have said this or done this..” But just remember to breathe and even though your acceptance isn’t there, don’t be discouraged. Maybe yours is coming another day. I know it’s hard.

(This picture is of my acceptance letter from the Spring of 2015)

The waiting is the worst part, but it will come when you least expect it. Trust Disney’s decision and that they will let you know. For now, check your email and dashboard periodically like Disney tells you, but don’t drive yourself crazy checking your dashboard every ten minutes, unless that’s fun to you then go for it, just remember to stay calm. Take care. When they send it, it will be there. And when that acceptance comes then go crazy. Jump in the air (please don’t hurt yourself.), scream, cry, call all your folks. Post on facebook in all caps (this was me), and start planning your amazing adventure into the Disney College Program. To all those waiting, keep calm and sing a Disney tune and keep positive. To those who are still in submission, my heart goes to you. Hopefully soon you will get to move forward. And to those who are accepted, Congratulations! You are in for a life-changing magical internship! Get ready for your next adventure as a WDW/DLR Cast Member!

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
