Here's to my very first valentine.

A Letter To My Dad On Valentine's Day

I've always thought of Valentine's Day as a celebration of love that is strictly for boyfriends/girlfriends or husbands/wives, but on this Valentine's Day (my first one as a girlfriend, actually), I realized that I owe a tribute to my very first valentine: my dad.

Daddy,

Ever since I was a little girl, you've made sure that Valentine's Day wasn't just for you and mom (or you and my wonderful stepmom, now). If you bought flowers, there was always one for me. If you bought a big Russell Stover box of chocolate, there was a mini one for me. If you bought her a pint of ice cream, I got one too. You've made sure that I know that I'm loved, even on this "stupid Hallmark holiday," as we always call it.

You were the first man to buy me flowers. You were the first man to show me that a relationship is not effortless, nor should it be. You were the first man to buy me a chocolate rose and use this cheesy line, "When this flower dies is when I'll stop loving you." You were the first man to take me on a date and the first one to come to mom's extra early in the morning, just to bring me Starbucks before you had to go to work. You were the first man who came to all of my soccer games, plays, basketball games, and band competitions. Whether I'm single or not, you have been and always will be my valentine.

I know that it's never been easy for you to drop me off at mom's after a visit with you and now it's even harder to watch me get on that plane and fly over 1,000 miles away. Trust me, it's hard for me too. That's why I wanted to write this to you, Dad, so that you know that I love you and that I appreciate everything that you do for me, even from states away. You've set the boyfriend expectations bar pretty high, but no one will ever surpass you. You're my dad, my valentine, my best friend, my movie partner, and my personal Superman. There's nothing that you wouldn't do for me and there aren't enough thank you's in the world for that.

I love you more than you'll ever know and I can't wait until I see you next!

XOXO,
Your daughter

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

CSU

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
