Another Father's Day has passed a couple of weeks ago, and normally I would try and do something with him such as: take him out to his favorite breakfast spot, treat him to the movies at his favorite theater, write him a poem, and etc. A thought that popped up in my head was that, if you really love your Dad, why would you only acknowledge him just on Father's Day?
Dear Daddy,
Over the past 20 years that I have been on this earth I simply can not thank you enough for what you have done for me and others. Ever since I was born you have always been there for me no matter what the situation was. I'm writing this letter to show you that I don't need one day out of 365 days to say that I am grateful and thankful for you. If I did that then my love for you wouldn't really be true, right or wrong? You work so very hard to make sure that the family sticks together and that everyone is taken care of. You know that I am thankful for you, but you just don't know how much I am thankful, it's so many reasons that I hope you realize how bless you are and how you touch peoples lives around you.
I'm thankful that you raised me in the church, because with the guidance from God I can achieve anything that I put my mind to. Also, that your an example of a God fearing man that is not ashamed to praise his name no matter what the situation is. I'm thankful that you were and still are very protective over me when it come to dating or just boys in general. Thank you for taking me on the annual "Daddy Daughter Dates", to show how a a real man is suppose to treat me and nothing less than that. Thank you for just being yourself that when a guy tries to approach me they're afraid when they see you. As well as making sure, for when that time comes that I marry a special man, that he share the values of you or even better than you, which is very hard to do.
Thank you for sending me to piano lessons when I was younger and I thought I was bad at it, but I was actually very good. Thank you for teaching me the game I used to love, basketball, and thank you for buying me a goal as well. Thank you for signing me up for my second love, softball, as well as, seeing my first softball game of my senior year in high school.
I'm thankful that you are my listening ear no matter if I am happy and talking you're ear off and won't get off the phone, or just randomly calling you when I am bored just to have someone to talk to, and even if I have my moments and I want to break down and cry you are always there for me. Giving me encouraging words to just go about my way.
Thank you for serving this country, you served over 23 great years in the U.S Army. Thank you for protecting and serving this country. Even though I cried when you left for Iraq, thank you for making sure that everyone was safe. Thank you for when you went to South America and sending me souvenirs to let me know that you are alright. Thank you for letting me see the world as you did, when we were stationed in many places.
Thank you for putting up with my smart mouth even though I know it can get me in trouble sometimes. Thank you for just everything, I just can't say thank you enough. Most of all, thank you, for raising a daughter who has the looks like you and who has the aspiration of my father to grind for more than what I have, so if I have it everyone has it. I will thank you until I just can't thank you enough, because you deserve the whole world basically, and I wont stop until you get it.
Love,
Your Baby Girl
