It will not be the same.

A Letter To My College Friends As We Start Our Second Year Together
Sam Scherer

We have under a month until we return to our beautiful campus. A lot is going to change for us. Some of our friends have left and now it is just us. Some of you are about to graduate and leave the rest of us behind. So let's make it a great year.

Well for me, it will only be half a year. Since I am going away, I wanted to let you all know that it is very bittersweet to be studying abroad. Believe me, I am super excited and cannot wait to see more of Europe. But it does make me sad that I will be leaving all of you behind, even though it is only 15 weeks. I hope that you guys have fun without me though and know that this will not change a thing about our friendship.

I already cannot wait to be back from my little adventure so that I can be reunited with all of you. That may sound bad, wanting to come home already and I have not even left yet, but it will be weird going to college without you guys will there to join me. That will be strange if I am being completely honest. I will not be able to come back to my room and have one of you be there. Instead, I will be sharing a room with someone I do not even know yet. You will be living with my stuff in your room, but not me.

I look forward to our weekly video chats and Snapchatting every day (have to keep those streaks up am I right?) from wherever I am. But this first semester is going to go by quickly and soon I will be back with all of you, getting ready to start our second semester. I am already so excited for that to happen it is not funny. It is going to be awesome getting to live with my best friends. We will be together all the time and it is just going to be great. I already know.

To my friends that are going to be seniors, we only have 15 weeks of college left together. That is crazy. It is hard to imagine that that is it. After that we will no longer go to college together. I hope that when I get back, we make the most of our time together because it is going to go fast. And then who knows what will happen. That is sad, but it is the truth.

So to all of you, my friends, I hope that you do not have too much fun without me. While I cannot wait for my European adventure, I cannot wait to be back with you. With the time we have together, let's make this second year even better than the first.

Love,

Your friend

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

The college years are a time for personal growth and success. Everyone comes in with expectations about how their life is supposed to turn out and envision the future. We all freak out when things don't go exactly as planned or when our expectations are unmet. As time goes on, we realize that the uncertainty of college is what makes it great. Here are some helpful reminders about life in college.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.
