A Letter To My College Family As We Head Home For Summer

I came to college worried that I wouldn't find my group of people or have any friends. Here we are, freshman year is already over and saying goodbye to you guys is going to be one of the hardest things I'm going to have to do.

We have all known each other since day one and since then have added and lost people in our group, but have always kept the originals. Looking back, we have been through a lot together, including being there for each other during our first year living away from home. It's weird to think if we all hadn't had chosen the same college, we probably would have never even met because we range from Massachusetts to North Carolina.

I'm going to miss the countless number of nights we all spent together, whether it was going out to a party or staying in for a "fam movie night." Even when we did stay in, there was never a dull moment. The best was always having breakfast the next morning and re-capping the entire night because someone always has a funny video or picture. It was always easy to figure out where to go to breakfast, but it was always an hour spent every night with you guys trying to decide where to go to dinner because "no one cares."

Like any family, we had our fair share of fights and moments that we thought we would kill each other, only because we saw each other everyday and personalities sometimes clashed. No matter what, by the end of the day we'd all be laughing about what happened (most of the time).

To my boys of the family, thank you for always having my back no matter what, you know I always have yours too. Don't worry, I'll still be here over the summer to give you advice and attempt to stop you from making dumb decisions (which I rarely succeed at doing). However, I will not miss how disgusting all of your rooms would get, but hey what can I do you're boys.

To my girls of the family, I know we'll talk every single day because I'm going to have to tell you everything that happens in my life and I obviously want to hear about yours too. I'm going to miss the car rides, trips to Target and learning your favorite songs just so I could sing along with you. I will also miss the gossip sessions, but don't worry I'll be calling every time I hear something new.

I hope these next four months fly by as fast as the past nine months have. It's strange to think one of the best four years of our lives is over. I don't know what I would have done this year without the best little family out there. I'm glad we all met because I wouldn't want it any other way. I hope you all have a good summer and get ready to take on sophomore year together. I love you all lots!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
