A Letter To BuzzFeed

What would the internet be without you?

A Letter To BuzzFeed
Huffington Post

Dear BuzzFeed,

First off I want to say thank you for roping me in with your quizzes, weird but intriguing articles, and hilarious videos. You have provided me with another way to procrastinate on homework. It takes a special kind of website to do that for me and congratulations, you are that special kind. I really don’t know what I would do without you. Oh wait, yes I do…I would do more homework and studying. But that’s boring and you’ve saved me, and many others, from eternal boredom. Give yourselves a pat on the back for that one.

But seriously, what would this generation do without BuzzFeed? We would never know what Starbucks drink we are based on our zodiac sign. We would never know whether our opinions about hot guys was popular or not. We would never know our personality based on our taste in music. Some serious questions would go totally unanswered for our generation. So thank you again BuzzFeed for solving life's most pressing mysteries and continuing to answer our many questions.

BuzzFeed isn't just about the quizzes we have all spent way too long (possibly hours...) taking. Yes, I am guilty of that and I'll fully admit it. BuzzFeed is also about sharing opinions and getting different outlooks on current trends or events. Though it might not be the most credible news source, it provides a heck of a lot more entertainment than the "more credible" news sources like CNN, MSNBC, and FOX. BuzzFeed adds some flare into the news cycle and for that I am thankful.

And don't even get me started on the BuzzFeed videos that I love to indulge in. These range from a group of guys trying new and bizarre things (The Try Guys) to How-To recipe videos (Tasty) to a guy getting drunk and ranting about various topics (Whine About It). BuzzFeed gives me hope that maybe one day my job could be to get drunk on wine and complain while getting paid.

BuzzFeed has become a worldwide phenomenon that can turn anything into a trend or turn an average person into an internet sensation. They are a magical company that brings joy and laughter to the internet even during dark times. BuzzFeed may not always be taken seriously, but it should be. They are more powerful than it may appear and they deserve endless appreciation. Thank you BuzzFeed for always staying true to who you are and for consistently putting a smile on my face. I can always count on you when I need to procrastinate for a mid-term or just need a good laugh.

With lots of love and even more laughter,

Your #1 fan

When it comes to Bloomington-Normal, there are many outstanding factors that any Illinois State student can say are unique to our college town (and maybe others too). Proud or not, we Redbirds know all the ins and outs of Blono.

1. The wait for Buffalo Wild Wings is always going to be long on Thursday nights.

As hard as we try, it's nearly impossible to resist the 69-cent wings on a college student budget. Plus, they are always delicious!
