My younger brother just recently had his junior prom.

As you can imagine, I am very upset for being unable to go home to see him and his beautiful date off before their big night. Through this, it's dawned on me that in a few short months, he will be a senior in high school. There is so much I want to tell him and anyone in this position.

Dear Little Brother,

Senioritis is probably setting in now even at the end of your junior year, but you still have so much to look forward to so don't try to rush to walk across that stage. Senior year is going to begin and end pretty quickly. That's something that I know from personal experience.

There's so much to do and I highly suggest that you look at this article of all of the ways to make the most of your final year. Senior year is where I made a lot of my best memories and I hope that you can do the same.

There's a great quote from Ferris Bueller that goes,

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around every once in a while, you just might miss it.

This is a quote that I suggest you take with you not only into your senior year but also into the rest of your life because, in my honest opinion, it seems like only yesterday I watched you walk across the stage for your eighth-grade graduation.

I have seen you grow into an adult over these past few years and it baffles me. There is so much I look forward to in your senior year. I cannot wait to see you at your senior prom. I cannot wait for you to get accepted into your dream college. There is so much in store for your future and I'm not sure if you know it yet.

The one major thing to keep in mind during your senior year, though, is to have fun. That's all I want for you. There are so many opportunities for you to experience throughout your senior year and definitely make sure you make the most of them, but more importantly, make sure you're having fun.

Make the most of your time left in high school and look forward to your time in college, but don't rush. I'll always be here to answer your questions about school and the future, for now just enjoy what you have left of college.

Sincerely,

Your Over The Moon Older Sister

P.S. Please stop getting taller, I know you're taller than me now and it's not funny anymore.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
