Dear Friend,

Life has thrown its fair share of obstacles your way from a young age, before our paths even crossed, and I have only been able to witness the strength you carry for a short amount of time. But in those three years, you have managed to inspire more than any quote, self-help book, or words of wisdom could ever do, because you get out of bed every morning, face life and all of its challenges head on, while still managing to keep your head up, and live life to the fullest.

You handle every obstacle, every road bump, every curve, and every situation, good or bad with such grace and confidence.

I have spent hours trying to understand and help you better, but I haven’t gotten very far and for that I am sorry. While we are on two different roads, there are places where they intertwine and we are able to walk out of the other side together, stronger than ever. For those times, I am grateful to have you by my side.

While I say all this about strength and keeping your head up, I want you to always remember: It is Ok not to be Ok, and do not ever forget that. There will some times when you need a break. Take it. There will be times when you need to cry. Let it rain. And there will be times when you need all the support you can get. Let people in.

I am beyond proud of you and all you have accomplished in your sixteen years of life. You have been faced with challenges in these last few weeks, but you are a fighter and will come out on the other side.

To the one who has stood by my side in the darkest of times.

To the one who never fails to put a smile on my face.

To the one who wrote out 200 reasons for me to stay alive.

To the one who came and visited me at my lowest.

To the one who fights her hardest each and everyday.

To the one who never gives up.

To the one who has saved me more times than I can count, without even knowing it.

To the one who wrote my the sweetest note on mother’s day, that I still read two years later.

To the one who fights a battle I will never understand, but one I will learn from.

Thank you for saving me and always being such an amazing friend, you deserve so much,

Your friend, Kayla

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
