A Letter to the Boy Who Makes Me Happy
Tree of Rooted Thoughts

Dear boy,

Well I just wanted to say that you make me the happiest girl in the world. You are like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. Whenever we text I literally smile at my phone even if it's the dumbest thing ever. Literally whenever your name pops up on my phone I smile 10 times harder and longer than usual. You make me feel like a diamond in the sky. You are the sweetest guy I've ever met and I don't want to lose you at all. You make so happy, it literally is insane. It's insane, I actually think I'm falling for you and I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.

Whether we are dating or not, I will forever be grateful for all the times you made me smile, even when I wanted to cry. You are everything I want and more. If there was a way for me to forever be this happy, I wouldn't hesitate to make sure it happened. There are times that we don't talk and when that happens I become sad again. Luckily, I was smart and saved my favorite messages from you. So when I do become sad, I can just look back and I'll smile again. You sir, have become the reason I wake up in the morning with a smile on my face and the reason I go to bed forgetting all the bad in life. I'm a much better person now because of you and I thank you for it.

Talking to you is like something out of the movies. It's magical and it gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside. Just like our first kiss, everything involves fireworks with you. You are literally like my Prince Charming, and I don't mind being your Cinderella. You treat me way better than I deserve. You don't see the bad in me. You always tell me that I'm perfect and when I try to tell you that nobody is perfect you call me the exception. I know you're just trying to be cute, but I'm totally fine with that. I know I'm not perfect or anything else that call you me, but because you are so sure I am, I'll let you keep saying it.

My favorite part about talking to you is every minute of it. There is never a time I would rather be talking to anyone other than you. I do want to thank you for all the new music you always tell me about. Every song or artist you say is good, I listen to. You don't even have to tell me to listen to it, but because it makes you happy and you like the beat or whatever, I will listen to it. The past couple of songs you gave me have become my favorite, but that's only because every time I listen to them I think of you and it makes me happy.

There are actually a lot of things that remind me of you and when I do come across something that reminds me of you, I will smile too big it's insane. My friends have actually caught me before and when they asked why I was smiling, all I could do was smile even bigger because you crossed my mind. You mean everything to me and more and like I said before, I thank you for that. Thank you for making me the happiest I've ever been.

From,

Your girl

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
