Your life is important to me, even if society doesn't think so.

A Letter To The Black Males, You Are Important To Me

In the midst of everything going on we have to find hope somewhere among ourselves and rebuild our communities and families. Nobody knows the pain that a person feels when such things happen in life.

Dear Black males,

I want to begin this letter stating that no matter how old or young you are, you are very important to me. As well as many other people around the world and in different communities. I didn't make this letter to a specific age group because we need every age group to be complete.

The younger Black males are important because they keep the legacy going, no matter if it's good or bad. They are so important because you can mold them into pure greatness and mold them to be more aware about the things going on so they can be aware or "woke" and know what really is going on so they wont be blindsided when they become older.

To the males in my generation, I can't say how much you are important to me and to other people as well. There is nothing like loving an educated Black man who knows his worth no matter the situation. You're so important to me because you can make a change in anyone's life: your children, parents, family, friends, co-workers and just random people. Just by having an upbeat spirit and being positive about certain situations, even if it calls you out to try and be the bad person. You're important not just to me, but to your mothers and fathers as well. For her to know that they didn't go wrong with you and for you to excel - it doesn't matter if its graduating, working or creating your own business.

Finally, to the older Black males. You all are the glue that sticks everything together. Your past life experience should be a guideline of how to survive in this crazy world we live in. The stories you share about the past are never in vain, because for some odd reason, history keeps repeating itself. And when that seems to happen all we have to do is fall back on your word. You are so important because your generation is the praying generation, which means when things seem to go left all you have to do is turn right, to God. You're so important to me, I have not a lot to say.

In the midst of everything I am so thankful for the males. You all are a lesson and a blessing regardless of what society thinks. Society can call you thugs, gangsters, rapists and uneducated, but to me you all are princes and kings of this nation.

P.s. Your life matters to me!!

Sincerely,

A Black queen

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
