A Letter To My Biological Parents

I appreciate the sacrifice you made for me.

A Letter To My Biological Parents

This one is for you both, to thank you for what you have done for me.

I am not angry, nor upset at you. You gave me up because you knew I could have a better life and achieve more.

My parents told me right from the start, and let me ask questions. I’m glad this wasn’t hidden from me. They told me that you two weren’t capable of taking care of me, because you both were figuring out your lives. I was told about how I was born in San Antonio, Texas. I think it is amazing how my parents were there for the birth. I was loved unconditionally by two sets of parents, one who gave me life, and the other who will love me unconditionally and make sure I experience life in the best way.

I saw pictures of both of your family and friends. I see where I get my hair from, my nose, all of my features. I learned about my ethnicity and how I am Puerto Rican. It is exciting to tell other people I am adopted. It is a unique story I am proud to talk about. I am proud to say I am adopted. You two are amazing, selfless people. I knew you were both so young and couldn’t provide for me as much as you wanted to. I am here to thank you for doing what you did.

Do I ever question what my life would have been like? Yes. Do I ever wish to meet you? Yes. I answer both yes because it is out of love and thankfulness. You handed me over to the world's best parents, who I love so much. I am so lucky to have been raised into an amazing family and have had a wonderful life. My parents are my life and whom I try to make proud every day. They are so good to me and are my absolute best friends.

I was taught how to respect, love, and care for others. I knew you both would have taught me that and that’s why you picked my parents, to make sure I learned those three things. I grew up never feeling that I was not wanted, but rather that I have double the love from both you two and my parents now. Thank you for handing me over to have a great education and meet some great friends. I know you both would be proud of how far my life has come.

I wish I could tell you all of the things you helped me to do, I owe it all to both of you. Thank you for keeping the baby you were surprised with, and thank you for being brave enough to make the decision not a lot of people would make. We all separated for the better, and I hope that you both have bettered your lives and raise your own children one day.

Thank you for giving me the parents who I thank everyday for the life I have.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
