Big,

It goes without saying that our relationship is one of a kind. Our frightening similarities have resulted in an unshakable bond between us; a connection so strong that everyone can see it. From the moment we met, I knew that you would be a very special person in my life, and I am so fortunate to call you my big.

A Big Little relationship goes beyond the countless, beautiful handmade crafts you made or the times you picked up the tab for coffee. It is more than stitched letter shirts and hitching rides to class; more than sappy sorority photos or wooden paddles. You make me the happiest little in the world because you are you.

We have a connection that sets us apart from being just “regular friends.”

You are my confidant, idol, and the big sister I never had all in one. You made me “your child” and took me under your wing, and I am forever grateful you did. There is no one else I’d rather eat sushi and laugh endlessly with.

Big, I wish you could see yourself the way that I see you. You are strong and resilient, in spite of the obstacles you have encountered. You are full of passion, driven, and extraordinarily talented. You have the kindest, most beautiful soul and a radiant presence. You have the coolest sense of style and the best taste in music. You always remain modest and humble, despite your amazing accomplishments. There are so few people that I admire the way that I admire you. I will never stop bragging about how awesome you are, because you are truly perfect in my eyes.

I mean it when I say I admire you.

Thank you for making me feel special every single day with your loving texts. Thank you for spoiling me endlessly with surprises and little gifts. Thank you for being my biggest supporter, my mentor, and my best friend. Thank you for always looking out for me (especially that time that I tripped and skinned my knee) but also being the one to make bad decisions with me. Thank you for comforting me in times of sadness and being there for me when I need you most. I can never thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me and impacting me in the most wonderful way.

When I take a little of my own, I can only hope that the bond we share is half as strong as ours. I know that I will be nothing short of an excellent big, all because you’ve set such a wonderful example and high standard for me.

No matter what, you are my big for life and I will always be your little nugget.

Love Always,

Your Little

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
