A Letter To My Big Brother On His Wedding Day
Kelly Coultas

Dear Big Bro,

I cannot believe that the big day is here. From celebrating your high school graduation and crying the entire night before you left for college, to you getting into medical school and proposing to the girl of your dreams, it has been an honor watching you grow into the man you are today. Here are some of the reasons why I know you will be an amazing husband.

You are driven.

Growing up 7 years apart for sure had its perks. I always had you to look up to- whether it was school or a job, you had gone through it all before and had the knowledge a little sister needed. You set the example of what hard work looks like when you got your first job at 13, worked your way through your undergrad and masters degree, and now you're killing it in medical school.

I am constantly amazed how you found your passion and didn't let anything stand in your way of achieving it. Your work ethic is admirable and I strive to be like you as I make my way through college and figure out what job/career I want to pursue.

I know this will carry into your marriage as you will never give up when times get hard, and you and your wife will lead and push one another to accomplish more together than you could have separately.

You are kind.

I know this is true from hundreds of nights I snuck into your room scared and unable to sleep. You always let me stay and even made me a bed out of blankets to sleep on. You care about others in ways most people don't. Going into the medical field was a perfect decision for you and I know all your patients will be blessed to have you as their doctor.

I know you will take this trait into your marriage, always put your marriage first and don't let anything change your heart big brother- because you have a good one.

You are goofy.

I'll never forget in the 6th grade you told everyone if school didn't work out you were going to be a "fat stand-up comedian". You have kept me giggling since I can remember. I'm sad that the fat comedian dream didn't work out... but I guess a doctor is kind of cool too. Remember that there will be good and very bad days in your chosen profession, so always remember to bring your light-hearted attitude into your marriage. After all, laughter is the best medicine!

Also, have nerf gun fights frequently. Stay goofy. Always keep your wife laughing...happy wife equals happy life!

You picked the perfect wife.

It's crazy to think you and your wife have been friends since the 3rd grade. The first memory I have of her was when I was 3 and she was the sweetest to me out of all of your friends, so much that I colored a Cinderella picture just for her.

She is beautiful, big brother.

She is the most driven, intelligent, caring, kind-hearted woman I have met and you should be honored that you are the lucky man who gets to marry her.

I want to thank you big brother for not only being my role model, and for pushing me to be my best self while loving me unconditionally...but for giving me the most amazing sister I never had. I love you and congratulations!

Love, Your Little Sis.

PS- Can't wait to be the cool aunt...

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
