A Letter To My Best Friend As We Graduate High School
Lindsey Hurst

To my best friend,

Now I know we're best friends right now, and we do everything together—Friday night movies, boy advice, late night soda runs, prom dates, sleepovers, shopping sprees, you name it.

But things are going to change. We're going to graduate in just a few short weeks. Our friends will move to different colleges. Some of us will stay together and some of us won't. Some will move away to a different part of the country, and some of us will stay right where we are. Some of us will get married within a year while most of us will wait a few years. You will go to your favorite college and I will go to mine. We'll study different things, and get different jobs, and maybe we won't always be able to see each other often.

But know that I'm grateful for you. We've made some amazing memories since we first met. You helped me through rough times and danced with me at stag dance nights. You listened to me cry over the phone when I broke up with my boyfriend, and we cheered our school team on at the home football games. We watched scary movies together late at night and talked about boys until the sun came up. These are memories of high school I will never forget, and they all include you!

I'll remember when we drove up the canyon on a Friday night and had a fire with all our friends. We played the guitar and sang songs together. Or the time when we party hopped on Halloween night and ended up sleeping over at your house. The concerts we went to and the dances we partied at- who knew I would miss them all!

We're going to different colleges and I know this is going to be tough. I'm going to miss you so much! I'll think of an inside joke and no one will understand the humor we have. We won't see each other every day like we used to but don't worry—I'll always answer the phone when you call. And when Christmas break rolls around we can have a day to ourselves to catch up again. Even though we might not call every week or even every month, whenever I see you I'll know that we'll still be close enough to smile and say hi.

Try to keep in touch, OK? And I'll do my best to do the same.

Love,

your best friend

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
