Dear Best Friend,
I miss you.
This semester feels quiet without you. As I walk around campus the air feels emptier and my heart feels less full. A club full of people, a pre-game, wine night feels empty when you’re not around.
I miss your laughter, the memories we constantly make, the amount of time I can spend with you and never get bored and just you.
Happiness overwhelms me to see you traveling the world allowing yourself to piece together your identity. Grinning ear to ear I know that you will come back more complete than you were before. You are collecting pieces of yourself along the way as you continue to be a jetsetter.
My first instinct is to call you and text you whenever something goes awry; however, this is your time to grow.
I refresh my Instagram constantly to see where you are off to next, to live vicariously through you, bragging to everyone I see, “Yeah, that girl is my best friend.”
Leaves are changing to green and the sweat drops off my forehead as the heat continues to rise. The seasons have changed from snow, raindrops, flowers in bloom and I know your return home will come soon.
Tears fill my eyes as I sit content to know I finally get my best friend back.
