Dear Mom,
Words can’t express how much I love you. You’re the woman that gave birth to me, but you’re so much more than that. You’re the woman I look up to, in good times and in bad. Your marriage with Dad and the way you handled Colin’s accident with such grace is proof of that. You’re the woman I hope I can become. You’re a phenomenal teacher, administrator, and coworker. You brighten every child’s life, just by being who you are. I can only hope to be that teacher for someone someday. You are an amazing mother, regardless of the mistakes you’ve made. You love us with all your heart and I can’t wait for your future grandchildren to meet you and see how great you are. You are steadfast in your faith. You and Dad have raised your children to go to church and love the Lord with everything we have. You are supportive. As Colin and I have grown up, you’ve allowed us to be ourselves in everything that we do. You’ve been a supportive band mom, drama mom, and even an academic bowl mom for years. You give of yourself day in and day out, and that’s definitely something that needs to be recognized.
All of this goes to say, I love you. As I grow older, I hope to become a friend to you; someone you will always be able to turn to for a laugh, a shoulder to cry on, or even a ride in the convertible while we jam out to Pitbull and have an ice cream cone when you’ve had a rough day. You amaze me every day by being the mother you are. There’s not a second that goes by that I don’t thank God for the wonderful woman he put in my life to raise me. I’m so glad that someone invented the phone. I don’t know where I’d be right now if it weren’t for your phone calls and texts to cheer me on, give me advice, or even tell me you love me. College is hard, but having a cool mom to talk to about your problems makes it 100 times better. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being my supporter. Thank you for being my enforcer. Thank you for being my friend. I am the person I am today because of the woman and mother you are.
I love you, Ma.
